The Roster Rewind with Prevail Alumni Will Sierer
From Holiday Wins to Collegiate Milestones
The memory is still clear: Will Sierer, a rising talent in the gym, helping lead his team to victory at the Prevail Coaches & Athletes Christmas Tournament, playing along side Coach Kenny. That tournament marked more than just a win—it lit a spark that carried him from club courts to the collegiate stage at Juniata College.
“Practices were fun, which made improving easier,” Will recalls. It’s a sentiment that echoes the Prevail spirit—build a culture of joy in the gym, and the work doesn’t feel like work.
Shaped by Teammates, Driven by Coaches
Will’s journey through high school and club seasons wasn’t easy—but it was fueled by the people around him. Teammates who pushed him. Coaches who believed in him. And one name stands out in particular:
“Kasey Gentry had a lasting impact on me.”
Together, that support system helped him stay grounded and motivated through long seasons, heavy lifts, and packed weekends.
Realizing the Dream
Will’s belief in his potential grew stronger during his sophomore year—a turning point where college volleyball shifted from a possibility to a goal. Competing on a nationally recognized team in bright, unmistakable uniforms helped get the attention of college coaches, but Prevail taught him how to compete at the next level.
“The biggest adjustment? The speed change.”
But with every faster rally and harder serve, he adapted—and thrived.
Life at Juniata
Now at Juniata College, Will’s impact is already clear. He’s earned:
-
3rd Team All-Conference honors
-
A spot on the Eagles Invite All-Tournament Team
-
Ace Leader at the FrogJump Invite
He’s also learned that the college volleyball experience is all-consuming in the best way:
“What surprised me most was how much time it takes up.”
Balancing class, matches, and a social life? Will credits communication—with professors, coaches, and friends—as the key to keeping it all on track.
Words of Advice
Looking back, Will offers simple advice to the next wave of Prevail athletes:
“Embrace the grind. Anyone can be great if they put the time in.”
And if you’re looking for a game-day secret?
“Eat a Wendy’s Biggie Bag before every game.”
(We’ll leave that one up to you.)
Always Prevail
Being part of the Prevail family doesn’t end at graduation. For Will, it's meant reconnecting with old faces across the net—and staying in touch with the coaches who helped shape his journey.
“It feels special. It was a neat feeling to play against so many Prevail alum throughout the season.”
Looking ahead, Will sees himself stepping into a mentor or coaching role—ready to pass on what he’s learned to the next generation and to have us remember...
“Cow Shorts FTW.”
