Take the Court with our Player of the Week: Finley B.
The Start of Something Special: A Summer Camp That Sparked a Passion
Finley’s introduction to volleyball came from a familiar place—her mom. With a little encouragement and a spot at a Prevail summer camp, she was instantly hooked.
What started as a fun summer activity quickly became something more meaningful. That camp gave Finley her first taste of competition, team bonding, and the thrill of chasing down the next ball—and she hasn’t looked back since.“My mom told me about it and signed me up for a summer camp.”
What Makes Prevail Home? The People, the Play, and the Possibilities
For Finley, Prevail is about more than just skills and scores—it’s a place where she feels connected and confident. The combination of friendships and chances to grow is what keeps her excited to be in the gym.
“The friends I make and the chance to play more volleyball.”
The laughter in warmups, the cheers after a good point, and the daily encouragement from coaches all come together to create a space where learning is fun, and improvement feels possible every single day.
Favorite Drill? Gas Pedal—All Hustle, All In
Among all the drills in practice, Finley’s favorite is Gas Pedal—a fast-moving, reaction-based drill that keeps everyone on their toes. It’s more than just running and hitting—it’s about awareness, teamwork, and staying ready.“I like Gas Pedal because you always have to watch where the ball is going next.”
For a player like Finley who loves the challenge of reading the play and staying dialed in, it’s the perfect combination of mental focus and physical speed.
Developing Her Game: Finding Strength in the Fundamentals
Every practice, Finley puts extra focus into the parts of the game she loves most—passing and setting. These foundational skills are crucial for every position, and Finley is determined to master the basics and do them well.
“Passing and setting are my favorite to practice.”
As she continues to grow, her consistency and willingness to improve will be what makes her a player her teammates can always count on—especially in tight moments.
What Keeps Her Going? A Simple Love for the Game
When practices are long and drills get tough, many players need reminders to stay locked in—but not Finley. For her, just being in the gym is enough. Her natural love for the sport fuels her motivation.“I love being there, so it’s already enough motivation.”
That mindset—loving the process, not just the outcome—is what makes her a great teammate and an exciting athlete to watch develop over the season.
What’s Next for Finley?
With a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a true love for the game, Finley is laying down the foundation for something special. As she continues sharpening her skills, building friendships, and taking on new challenges with 13 Platinum, she’s learning lessons far beyond the court.
She may be early in her volleyball journey, but Finley already understands what it’s really all about: growth, connection, and showing up with heart—every single time.
