Take the Court with our Player of the Week: Ashton B
Getting Started: A Mother’s Influence, A New Passion Unlocked
Ashton’s volleyball journey began with a nudge from someone who knew just how powerful the sport could be—her mom, who played back in high school.
“My mom encouraged me to play because she used to play in high school.”
That encouragement sparked something special, and soon Ashton was falling in love with the game herself—one serve, one pass, one huddle at a time.
Why Prevail? Support, Camaraderie, and Team Spirit
What makes Prevail home for Ashton is simple: the people. From the coaches to her teammates, she’s surrounded by a community that shows up, supports one another, and keeps the game fun—even when the stakes are high.
“The people there and my teammates, because we all come and support each other.”
Whether it’s celebrating a big win or bouncing back from a tough loss, Ashton finds strength in the collective energy of her team.
Advice to the Next Generation: Stay Hungry, Stay Humble
As someone who’s already learned a lot through competition, Ashton has advice for players just getting started:
“Work hard and never give up.”
She’s honest about the journey—it’s not always easy—but the reward comes in pushing through and refusing to let the hard moments define you.
Lessons from the Court: Confidence Over Comparison
When Ashton reflects on what she wishes she knew early on, it’s all about staying mentally tough:
“Don’t let anything discourage you.”
Her most important takeaway? Compete with fire, not for the title, but to know you gave it your all:
“Want to be better than everyone on the court. You may never be the best, but at least you tried your hardest.”
That drive pushes Ashton to dig deeper, swing harder, and show up with confidence every time she takes the court.
Handling Setbacks: Shake It Off, Play the Next Ball
Ashton has developed a strong mindset for overcoming mistakes and staying in the game mentally:
“Don’t get in your head and move on. Believe that you can better the next ball and shake it off.”
Her ability to reset quickly allows her to lead by example—even in the toughest stretches of a match.
Staying Positive: The Power of a Smile
For Ashton, keeping her head up is more than a mindset—it’s a strategy. She knows that positivity is contagious, and that even in hard moments, the smallest action—like smiling—can lift the team.
“Forget about your last play and smile. When you smile, it helps you keep your head up and make your teammate think you’re fine even if you’re not. If you get in your head, it’s more likely to make someone else lose energy, so don’t show it.”
Her strength lies not just in her skills, but in her ability to lead emotionally, lift others, and keep the team moving forward.
What’s Next for Ashton?
Ashton continues to be a steady presence for 15 Platinum—a competitor who plays for her team, learns from every rep, and leads with quiet strength. She’s building not only her game, but her resilience—and inspiring others to do the same.
