Wisdom Wednesday: Double the Wisdom with Coach Rylee & Coach Hayden
Coach Rylee: Finding Growth in Every Loss
For Rylee, a loss isn’t just a final score—it’s a new beginning.
“If you win all the time, there’s no will to improve and get better,” Rylee shares. “A loss shows us where the fight is and gives us the knowledge we need to improve.”
Rather than dwell on the result, she helps her team dig deeper:
-
First, she praises effort and heart—especially in a close game.
-
Then, she asks players what they think needs work.
-
Their answers spark meaningful practice plans focused on those areas.
“Losses should light a fire,” Rylee says. “They’re not the end—they’re the challenge.”
Coach Hayden: Resilience Through Every Setback
Hayden knows firsthand that resilience is about pushing forward, even when it’s hard.
“A few years ago, I had an operation that forced me to relearn basic tasks like walking,” he shares. “It was frustrating and exhausting, but just like in volleyball, it took time, effort, and a whole lot of patience.”
That experience drives his coaching philosophy. He teaches players that:
-
Resilience is about adapting, not avoiding adversity.
-
Tough practices and tough games are opportunities, not setbacks.
-
Mental pressure is mostly created on your own side—and you have the power to shift that with mindset and positivity.
Hayden encourages players to have a short memory and a growth mindset:
“Every rally is a chance to get better—even if the end result isn’t a win.”
One Unified Message: Bounce Back Stronger
Together, Rylee and Hayden guide their team through the ups and downs of competition with one clear goal: growth.
Whether it’s a tough loss or a tough day, their message is the same—these moments build the foundation for long-term success.
They remind players that improvement isn’t measured in trophies, but in resilience, mindset, and the ability to keep showing up.
Join us in celebrating Coach Rylee and Coach Hayden—a duo that’s helping young athletes grow stronger, tougher, and more confident with every play.
One rally. One challenge. One step at a time.
