Take the Court with our Player of the Week: Savian P.
This week’s Teammate Tuesday spotlight goes to Savian from 18 Pink—a player whose journey from gym class curiosity to tournament MVP moments is fueled by fun, hard work, and a true love for the team experience. With a calm confidence and a team-first mindset, Savian has become a reliable competitor and energy driver for his squad. Let’s dive into why Savian is our Player of the Week and how his growth has shaped his game—and his team.
A Gym Class Spark That Lit the Fire
Savian’s journey into volleyball started thanks to someone who made the game fun before it ever became co
mpetitive—Coach Monica, his former gym teacher.
That early spark turned into something much bigger: a commitment to competing, learning, and leveling up through both school and club volleyball.“Coach Monica was a gym teacher at a school I used to go to and she made volleyball fun in gym class, which got me to come try out for the team.”
Why Prevail? The Whole Package
When it comes to what he loves about Prevail, Savian can’t pick just one thing—and that says a lot.
“Really everything—there’s not one specific thing. The coaches are great, my teammates are cool people, and the tournaments and events are always enjoyable.”
It’s the culture, the relationships, and the experience that keep him motivated and grounded every step of the way.
Turning It Around: A Perfect Run in Scranton
One of Savian’s proudest moments came during a tournament in Scranton, where 18 Pink went 11-0 and took first place—a massive bounce back after a tough few weeks.
It was a powerful reminder that resilience pays off—and when this team locks in, they’re tough to beat.“Me and my whole team weren’t doing so hot, but at that tournament we filled in the rough patches and locked in and played to perfection.”
Proud Moments: Starting the Season Strong
Another standout moment came at the very start of the season, when 18 Pink went undefeated and took home gold in their first tournament of the year.
“I’m proud of this because I know we all put in the work during the off season with grass and indoor events.”
This wasn’t just a fluke—it was the result of intentional preparation, and it set the tone for everything to come.
An Underdog Set That Proved the Hype Wrong
One of Savian’s favorite memories was taking a set off of Cedar Crest, a team they weren’t expected to compete with.
“Everyone expected us to get swept. I felt pretty good about this because we were the underdogs in that game, and no one expected anything from us.”
Moments like these build confidence and team belief, especially when the odds aren’t in your favor.
Road Trips, Memories, and Team Bonding
While wins are great, the road trips—the laughs, music, and memories—are what really stand out.
“There was never a moment where the energy wasn’t there, and it was always a good time with them.”
That kind of off-court chemistry is what makes 18 Pink so connected when it matters most.
The First Big Dig: A Moment He’ll Never Forget
Savian still remembers a moment from his sophomore JV season, when he made his first big dig—a clean pickup between a block that showed he had what it takes to compete.
“I was sitting in between a block, and the other team’s outside hit right between them. I got my first good dig and it felt great.”
That feeling of contribution and confidence has carried through to every level he’s played since.
What’s Next for Savian?
Savian’s journey has been shaped by steady growth, great coaching, and a mindset rooted in joy and trust in his team. As he wraps up his club career with 18 Pink, he continues to prove that what matters most is how you bounce back, who you play for, and how you show up for the team next to you.
