Take the Court with our Player of the Week: Maddy S.
From School to the Club Court: A Passion that Grew with Experience
Maddy’s volleyball journey began where many young athletes start—at school, where her first taste of the sport sparked someth
ing more. That initial experience eventually led her to Prevail Volleyball Club, where she found a place to grow, compete, and feel fully supported.
“I first got involved with volleyball through school.”
Why Prevail? Players, Coaches, and a Whole Lot of Support
Ask Maddy what makes Prevail special, and she’ll keep it simple: the people. From her teammates to her coaches, she’s surrounded by individuals who push her to be her best and celebrate every victory—big or small.
“My favorite things about Prevail are the players and coaches.”
For Maddy, it’s the people who make each practice, each tournament, and each moment on the court more meaningful.
Action Moments: Tournament Highlights and Deep Corner Finishes
Maddy’s proudest volleyball moments come when she gets the opportunity to step up for her team in the heat of competition. One match that stands out was during a tournament at Conestoga Valley, where she delivered a string of strong, accurate down balls that kept the momentum going.
“I hit lots of good down balls at Conestoga Valley.”
She’s especially proud of her ability to hit to deep corners, knowing how much those precision shots challenge the defense and help rack up points.
“Hitting deep corners during games is a highlight for me.”
Staying Locked In: Just Play
Maddy’s approach to mental preparation is refreshingly calm and instinctual. She doesn’t overthink the moment—she just lets her training take over.
“I don’t think about the play. I just play when the ball comes to me.”
That natural rhythm helps her stay grounded and ready, no matter how intense the moment is.
Team Moments, Coach Shoutouts, and That Spotlight Feeling
What goes through Maddy’s mind after a big play? One thing: Coach Ben’s voice echoing through the gym with celebration and energy.
“Coach Ben’s gonna scream ‘Let’s go!’ and congratulate the team as a whole.”
That team-first mindset is exactly why Maddy shines. When the spotlight hits, she doesn’t think about individual glory—she feels joy for herself and for the group that made it happen.
“It feels good, wonderful, happy for myself and the team.”
