Motivation and Inspiration Day: Insights from Our Prevail Athletes

For Motivation and Inspiration Day, we asked some of our Prevail athletes what drives them forward, keeps them motivated, and inspires them both on and off the court. Their answers showcase the heart of what it means to be part of the Prevail family.

Prevail Pumps

Need some new songs to add to your playlist and get pumped up before your next game? Music is a huge motivator for many of our athletes, setting the tone and energizing them for peak performance. Here are some favorite pump-up tracks shared by our Prevail players:

  • “Turn My Swag On” by Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em - Emily B. & Alaina L.
  • “Prom” by SZA - Chloe L.
  • “Unstoppable” by Sia - Paige C.
  • “Hotel Room Service” by Pitbull - Leah S.
  • “The Final Countdown” by Europe - Owen A.

Music has a way of turning nerves into confidence and focus. What’s on your pre-game playlist?

Those Who Inspire

Everyone has someone who inspires them, whether it's an athlete they admire, a loved one, or someone they see every day. We asked our Prevail athletes who motivates and inspires them the most, and their heartfelt answers didn’t disappoint:

  • “Camryn Hannah at Penn State because I look up to her as a player. She’s super positive and very smart.” - Emily B.
  • “My mom because even though things can be hard, she works her hardest to get through it and always succeeds.” - Honor K.
  • “Elena Scott—not only does she have great hustle, but her passing is so consistent. She never gives up on a ball, and she never lets her attitude go down.” - Chloe L.
  • “My mom because she is always there for me, helps me when I need advice, and works with me to get better.” - Paige C.
  • “My parents really inspire me to be successful in school, volleyball, and so many other aspects of my life. They’re always supporting me no matter what and help me when I need it.” - Alaina L.
  • “Alex Morgan. She inspires me in soccer and to keep trying in volleyball.” - Ava L.

Who inspires you? Whether it’s someone famous or close to home, their impact can be life-changing.

Be the Inspiration

In the Prevail community, inspiration flows both ways. Many younger players look up to the older athletes, watching their skills and determination on the court. But for the older players, knowing that they’re role models motivates them to work even harder.

This give-and-take is what makes our Prevail family so special—each generation of athletes inspiring and lifting up the next.

Motivation Is Key

Keeping a positive attitude isn’t just about staying upbeat—it’s about staying resilient and focused, even when challenges arise. Motivation fuels effort, and effort inspires your teammates. Here’s how some of our athletes keep themselves motivated:

  • “I blast music, laugh with my friends and family, and tell myself positive things.” - Alaina L.
  • “By pumping the team up.” - Leah S.
  • “Telling myself I got this and never giving up.” - Paige C.
  • “I listen to music with my friends and laugh with them.” - Emily B.

No matter how you stay motivated, the key is consistency. A positive mindset can make all the difference.

How to Motivate Your Team

Motivation isn’t just an individual effort—it’s also the glue that holds a team together. A motivated team is a connected team, and that connection can lead to big wins. Here’s how our Prevail players bring motivation to their teammates:

  • “Staying positive and learning from mistakes to keep our heads up.” - Emily B.
  • “Being really energetic and cheering them on.” - Honor K.
  • “Giving high fives after every play and always saying encouraging things.” - Chloe L.
  • “I bring energy to huddles, think positively, and encourage my teammates to be the best they can be.” - Alaina L.

Encouragement, positivity, and energy—these are the cornerstones of a winning team.

The Importance of Motivation

Motivation is the driving force behind every great achievement. It pushes us to give our all, even when the odds seem stacked against us. For athletes, staying motivated is the key to improving skills, overcoming challenges, and building a winning mindset.

At Prevail, we believe motivation is contagious. When one person brings energy and determination, it spreads throughout the entire team. That’s why it’s so important to not only find what motivates you but to share that energy with those around you.
